The real Orlando experience at hotels in Downtown

Downtown Orlando houses the central business district, the historical area, nightclubs, the Orlando Magic basketball team, and a variety of museums and performing arts venues. The hotels in downtown Orlando do not provide easy access to Walt Disney World, Universal or SeaWorld because of the volume of traffic between downtown and the theme parks during rush hour. Generally, the downtown hotels offer a respite from the theme park enthusiasts, and because of this, they are chosen by business travelers or those who are visiting Orlando for reasons other than touring the theme parks.    

Arguably the most luxurious hotel in downtown Orlando, The Westin Grand Bohemian boasts 250 plush suites decorated in a Bohemian-style along with an assortment of over 100 fine pieces of art.  This upscale hotel has several delightful features that include a massage and spa service, a heated outdoor pool, an art gallery, a 24 -hour gym and evening entertainment.

The Lexington is Orlando’s newest and most modern addition to the downtown area, offering comfortable and fashionable studios and suites. Conveniently located just off I-4, the Lexington has a piano bar, meeting rooms that accommodate up to 250 people, and the chic District Five Restaurant which offers a modern twist on American cuisine.

Overlooking Lake Eola, the Embassy Suites Hotel has several lovely cafes within walking distance. Other destinations close by include the TD Waterhouse Center which houses the Orlando Magic basketball team, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center. For guests who still want a touch of luxury in the downtown area, but are on a budget, the Embassy Suites is a good bet.

Other hotels in the downtown area that are known for their standardized service and recognized by travelers include the Comfort Suites, the Courtyard by Marriott, the Marriott Orlando Downtown, and the Sheraton Orlando Downtown, all of which offer the usual amenities and are perfect for the business traveler.  

Two out of the ordinary hotels located in the downtown area are The Inn at Lake Lucerne, which features four historically rich Victorian houses in a garden on the shore of Lake Lucerne, and Eõ Inn & Urban Spa, a boutique hotel built in the 1920s and restored in 1999, located across the street from Lake Eola and above a fine bakery. As with the other downtown Orlando hotels, these also offer convenience and easy access to downtown dining, theater, and nightlife.
