Disney-owned resorts are a world of their own and are highly recommended for guests who want the full Disney experience. Each resort is uniquely decorated according to a theme and every detail has been fully thought out and planned for.
While many hotels outside Walt Disney World Resort offer amenities comparable to those offered by Disney, many guests still prefer to pay more in order to stay at Disney because of the exclusive perks offered. These benefits of staying on-site include: free transportation around all Disney World, free parking, the Extra Magic Hour, free stays for children 17 and under if staying their parent's room, Disney’s Magical Express Service, and of course, convenience - the most sought after benefit (Note: if you are still curious check out the hotels near Disney World pages to see options of non-Disney branded hotels).
The Disney World Transportation System includes ferries, buses, and the monorail, which transport Disney World Resort guests free of charge from each of the resorts to all of the theme and water parks. For Disney’s guests who would rather rent a car or drive their own, parking is free at any of the Disney theme parks.
Disney’s Extra Magic Hour allows Disney Resort guests to enter the theme parks earlier and leave later on select days. There are fewer people at the parks early in the morning and later in the evenings, making for a more relaxed visit. More information can be obtained at the front desk of each Disney Resort.
Disney’s Magical Express provides free transportation to all guests arriving via the Orlando International Airport. Guests and their baggage are taken from the airport to their resort of choice, and are also driven back to the airport upon their departure.
This page lists Disney Resorts according to price or by alphabetical order. By staying in any of them, you will be in close proximity to Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Downtown Disney. In addition to the Disney owned resorts, there are other "affiliated" Disney hotels which may offer the benefits listed above. Visitors are advised to call beforehand to ensure eligibility of these. For an explanation and maps of the Disney theme parks, please see our Walt Disney Resort page.
Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is one of the park's most upscale hotels, offering a luxurious stay with all that Disney has to offer. There is a wide variety of recreational activities including, golf, tennis, boating, waterskiing, volleyball, and a health club. Especially enjoyable and romantic, the spa offers a getaway for couples. Children will find a wide variety of activities at the Mouseketeer Clubhouse and the pools. A more reasonably priced option located across the lake is Disney's Contemporary hotel in Orlando.
Disney's Beach Club Resort and Disney's Yacht Club Resort are well known for the huge pool they share. Aside from being within walking distance from Epcot, the Beach and Yacht resorts boast a pool large enough to be its own water park. With a shipwreck, a beach, slides, a toddler area and a whirlpool, guests and their kids enjoy taking a break from the theme parks in the afternoons to splash around in the Florida sun.
Offering an experience unlike any other, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, is an African themed resort with an exotic savannah where giraffes, zebras, and other African wildlife roam freely. Guests are treated to sunrise tours, African storytellers around a fire at night, authentic African food, and a relaxed nature themed setting.
Disney's All-Star Movies, Disney's All-Star Music, and Disney's All-Star Sports Resort, as well as Disney's Pop Century Resort are the most budget friendly of all the Disney Resorts, offering fewer amenities at a lower price than the other Disney resorts while still maintaining the fun Disney atmosphere that kids love. These hotels offer the best value and are therefore a favorite for many parents.
If you would like to stay close to Disney MGM studios, try Disney's Coronado Hotel in Orlando. For close proximity to Downtown Disney, we suggest the Regal Sun hotel in Orlando, aslo part of the Disney family of hotels.
