Truly an adventure, this theme park has five islands: Seuss Landing, The Lost Continent, Jurassic Park, Toon Lagoon and Marvel Super Hero Island.
Seuss Landing has rides and characters based on the well-known Dr. Seuss books, which are especially popular with younger children. Throughout the day characters from Dr. Seuss books can be seen wandering the streets or hosting musical performances.
The Lost Continent looks like an old English village and features such rides as Dueling Dragons, an intense rollercoaster ride, the Eighth Voyage of Sinbad, a stunt show, and Flying Unicorn, a rollercoaster for small children.
Jurassic Park has a jungle theme featuring dinosaur themed rides, as well as educational exhibits. One of the most popular rides on this island may be the Jurassic Park River Adventure, which takes its riders into an ominous ride through a wild river with raging dinosaurs.
Toon Lagoon is based on popular cartoon characters and incredibly well planned, down to the detail. Popular rides at this island include Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and Popeye & Bluto's Rilge-Rat Barges.
Marvel Super Hero Island is definitely the place for those who crave intense action with plenty of dizzying attractions, the most popular being The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk Coaster.
Some of the wilder rides at Islands of Adventure have a height limit, which is something parents of small children will need to take into consideration. Similar to the Disney Fastpass, Universal offers the Express Pass with which visitors can book rides so as to avoid spending too much time in line for the rides.
The most popular hotel in the area is Universal's Hard Rock Hotel. There are also a large number of hotels near Universal Studios which may offer additional convenience and discounts.
Directions: Take exit 75B off I-4 and follow the signs for Universal.
